Frequently Asked Questions
CBD + Adaptogens
CBD is short for cannabidiol, which is a naturally-occurring cannabinoid found in both hemp and cannabis plants. Out of 100+ known cannabinoids, CBD is one of the more predominant. In fact, it’s the second most active compound in the plant, right after THC (tetrahydrocannabinol). Unlike THC, though, CBD will not get you high in the traditional sense. Many people claim they take CBD to counter the effects of a THC buzz (in states where marijuana is legal, of course).
But, besides that, there are many reasons why people have been flocking to this trendy wellness compound; think menstrual cramps, stress, anxiety, inflammation, menopause symptoms, insomnia, loss of appetite, acne, and PTSD, just to name a few.
Adaptogens are described as herbs or roots that have the potential to act as a “stress vaccine” in our bodies. Ultimately, they’re supposed to assist in reducing tension and fatigue through the adaptation of stress.
When taken in tandem with CBD, the two compounds are intended to have a beautiful synergistic effect on stress and anxiety.
All Selene products are made with broad-spectrum CBD derived from hemp sun-grown in the U.S.A. This means that our CBD comes from the entire plant, and contains a combination of cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial compounds.
This whole-plant approach achieves what’s referred to as the entourage effect; meaning each compound is great on it’s own, but when paired with others, (like CBG or CBN) the benefits are fully maximized.
Currently, there are no reports on CBD overdose or abuse. However, we recommend always seeking a medical professional's opinion before adding anything new to your routine. All of our products undergo a rigorous testing process so that we can provide you with the best product, free of any potential contaminants.
Product Testing, Ingredients, and More
They absolutely are. And, rigorously. We’ve done our homework.
Selene products are tested up to four times across the manufacturing process by us, our hemp suppliers, and a third-party certified lab. Our products are tested for cannabinoid and terpene profiles, in addition to making sure there are no pesticides, microbials, mycotoxins, heavy metals or additives inside.
We’re so glad you asked.
Our third party lab tests are updated frequently; for all current batch reports, head to our Certificates of Analysis page at the bottom of our website.
Our products are not certified organic (we’re working on it!) but they do contain many organic ingredients. Check out the individual ingredient labels for more information.
Yes! Absolutely no animals were harmed in the making of our products. Only (eager!) humans were involved in the testing.
What’s more, all of our products are vegan + gluten-free! 🙌
It's best if you use our products within 18 months of purchase.
Preferably in a cool, dark place. For extra longevity, pop 'em in the fridge.
